Parent Coaching for managing SEN children

Parent Coaching for Managing SEN Children

At Skill Development Services Ltd, our Parent Behaviour Coaching program is designed to empower families with practical tools to manage challenging behaviours and build stronger, more supportive home environments. Led by Clinical Psychologist Saima Kashif, with over 25 years of experience in neurodiverse child development, our coaching focuses on meltdown management strategies that are compassionate, non-judgmental, and tailored to your child’s unique needs. Parents learn to identify triggers, implement calming techniques, and use positive reinforcement to reduce the frequency and intensity of emotional outbursts. We also work closely with families to build consistent routines that support predictability, reduce anxiety, and promote smoother daily transitions. Emotional regulation strategies are taught step-by-step, helping children and parents co-regulate through structured activities, visual aids, and sensory-friendly environments. But we go beyond the parent-child dynamic — our coaching includes support for siblings and extended caregivers, recognizing that the entire family plays a role in a child’s emotional wellbeing. We provide guidance for sibling understanding, inclusive communication, and practical ways grandparents, aunts, uncles, or other caregivers can support positive behaviour at home. Sessions are warm, respectful, and solution-focused, delivered either in person at our Wrexham centre or online across the UK.
